What is a Mobile Booster?

A mobile booster (or cellular repeater) is an electronic device that can be used to improve indoor coverage of mobile phone services—calls, texts and data. These type of devices are ideal for people with inadequate or poor indoor reception.

Poor indoor signal is caused by many factors, including the type of insulation used, or the type of construction in both older dwellings and new builds.

A small, discreet antenna may be mounted on a roof, with a wired link to the mobile booster within the home or business premises that then redistributes the amplified signal.

What are all these 'bands'?

In brief, they are the frequencies on which your mobile reception is supplied.

Here is what each band provides:

Single-Band
• GSM (2G and 3G) for calls, texts, and data (on some 3G carriers) on a single frequency.

Dual-Band
• 3G and GSM for calls, texts and data on two separate frequencies.

Tri-Band
• 4G, 3G and GSM for calls, texts and 3G/4G LTE data on the 900, 1800 and 2100Mhz frequencies.

Quad-Band
• 4G LTE, 3G and GSM for calls, texts and 3G/4G LTE data on the 800, 900, 1800, and 2100Mhz frequencies.

Why does this matter?

Each network provider may use different frequencies on each tower, choosing what they consider best to cope with the particular demands of the location, such as population density or terrain.

Cellnet uses specialised software and hardware to determine the best reception solution available to you. Some nearby towers may only offer GSM services, whereas a more distant one might offer better services or signal quality.

What services are available to me?

To assess your location, book a Site Examination today. A qualified engineer will visit your premises and, using our height equipment, shall confirm available signals from the level of your roof line to determine what signals and options are available to you.
